Scott Goodspeed, MHA, DHA, FACHE

Dr. Scott W. Goodspeed, MHA, DHA, FACHE, serves as Associate Professor and Director of the Health Administration Program at Mass General Brigham University of Health Professions in Boston, Massachusetts. 

Prior to joining Mass General Brigham University, Dr. Goodspeed was the Professor and Founding Director of the Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) Program at High Point University in North Carolina and the Program Director of the Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership at Brown University. He also served as Professor of the Practice in Health Services, Policy, and Practice at the Brown University School of Public Health. Throughout his distinguished academic career, Dr. Goodspeed has shown an unwavering commitment to preparing future healthcare leaders with the practical skills required to thrive in today's dynamic and unpredictable healthcare environment. 

Dr. Goodspeed's professional journey and 45 years of experience reflects a deep industry experience, notably as the President and CEO of four hospitals in three different states. His tenure in these positions has cultivated a national reputation in governance. Additionally, he has consulted with numerous healthcare organizations across the United States, sharing his expert knowledge on topics such as strategic planning, health industry trends, 21st-century governance, and the construction of effective cultures.

An accomplished author and a nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Goodspeed has authored and delivered over 500 presentations and written the book "Community Stewardship: Applying the Five Principles of Contemporary Governance.” His contributions to healthcare leadership were recognized in 2021 when he received the Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He was recognized as High Point University’s Faculty Innovator for the 2025–2026 academic year, an honor awarded to faculty who demonstrate leadership in pedagogical innovation, generously share their expertise, and actively strengthen the teaching community.

Dr. Goodspeed earned his Master of Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota and later obtained his Doctorate in Health Administration and Leadership from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Throughout his career, Dr. Goodspeed has been instrumental in various projects that sought to innovate healthcare delivery and payment systems, especially in rural communities. Notable among these is the Frontier Medicine Better Health Partnership, aimed at addressing unique healthcare challenges in frontier/rural communities.

Dr. Goodspeed's skills in healthcare, healthcare management, and healthcare analytics have been endorsed by several highly skilled professionals, further cementing his status as a leading figure in his field.
