Adrian Wright-FitzGerald, DAT, LAT, ATC, is an athletic trainer, educator, and academic leader whose work focuses on health promotion, injury prevention, sports medicine, and international service learning. She serves as Director of the Health Sciences Program and Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Exercise & Applied Science at Duquesne University
Dr. Wright-FitzGerald earned her Doctor of Athletic Training degree from A.T. Still University, a Master of Science in Applied Anatomy & Physiology from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Duquesne University. She is a licensed athletic trainer under the PA Board of Medicine and maintains certification through the Board of Certification.
Her professional career spans both clinical practice and higher education. Prior to joining Duquesne, she held faculty appointments at Boston University and Lasell University and worked extensively in collegiate athletics and injury prevention. She continues to practice clinically as a casual athletic trainer with UPMC, maintaining a strong connection between scholarship, teaching, and patient care.
Dr. Wright-FitzGerald’s scholarly interests include injury prevention, health promotion, sleep hygiene, and social determinants of health. She has presented work at national conferences and has delivered injury-prevention and wellness education programs for athletes, firefighters, military personnel, and first responders throughout the United States.
Committed to experiential and global learning, Dr. Wright-FitzGerald has led international health-focused study abroad programs in Peru, Guatemala, India and Thailand. Her contributions to teaching and service have been recognized with Duquesne University's Dean's Awards for Excellence in Teaching and for Excellence in Community & Professional Service.
